Factory 71-72 truck tilt parts removal??
How hard is it to remove all the parts from a factory truck tilt?
I want to replace the column seals but need help on this one! Ive done it only on non tilt columns, but is it harder on tilt columns than non tilt? Thanks. |

Re: Factory 71-72 truck tilt parts removal??
Disassembly of the tilt column is definitely more difficult than doing the non-tilt column. The Factory Service Manual has a good section on the process and there may be something in the FAQ's. The exploded view has been posted several times so a search may help, also.

Re: Factory 71-72 truck tilt parts removal??
^Mine's in storage right now because I got stuck and couldn't get it apart any further. I've read the FAQ postings and seen the assembly manual... just can't seem to get it apart. I also don't want to bang on stuff I shouldn't. I was going to make a post like this, but I'm not in a hurry.
I've got the small metal casing and all of the turn signal and shifter stuff off. I've got the bearings loose on the bottom end, but I can't seem to get them off any further?
