will this work??
Hey all I bought a 1988 GMC yesterday really cheap. Pretty much just a work truck till I get done with my 71. My question is will the wireing,brain box,TBI set up, steering column,seat belts, seat, work in the 71. U all think it would be a good switch over? Or leave the the 71 carbed and with all the orig stuff
and keep the 88 for the winter? JAY

I am doing almost the same swap only with the tbi just to get the extra gas mileage and adjust ability. haven't started fitting stuff yet but i will be starting soon. carbed is cool too but the gas bill isint so cool.

Column would be the hardest due to the fact that it is a thicker column.

if you switch over to TBI you will need the fuel lines, pump, and more than likely the tank. (not exact PSI) the TBI runs off 16PSI and the carb only runs off of 4-7 PSI. also if you switch the brain the best way to do it is with a new aftermarket wiring harness to cut out things you wont be running that will give your engine bad readings.
if you can get all you need then it is a good swap.

hey Spray-Bomb u have any pics of it? How hard was it to switch over. Done really seem to hard to do.
And about the tank I just order the one that goes under the bed. I could use a inline fuel pump right?

you can use an inline one as long as the PSI is right but id back it up with an inline fuel pressure guage.

Install a blazer tank, and the sending unit from a later fuel injected model (88-91) and that will give you in tank fuel pump that you need.
