My buddies, New 1971 3/4 ton 4x4 PICS!!!!!
Hey guys picked this up yesterday. We had quite the ordeal. we drove to Lakewood WA. after work yesterday. Drew picked me up at 4:00. First off, it took us two hours to get from Seattle to Lakewood. we looked at the truck, it drove great, but had been sitting for two years. we decided to buy it and went to get a battery since he had the battery from his boat in it. everthing was fine on the freeway, Than the M5's fuel pump stopped working on I-5 right buy the tacoma dome. we called AAA and waited. We finally rolled into seattle about 11 pm. The truck drove flawlessly. We were on the way from Drew's house(where we had the m5 dropped) than proceded to my house. about half way there we hit a pot hole and the clutch linkage fell apart. Luckly we were able to walk back and find enough parts to jury rig the linkage anough to get it working again. with no tools I might add. but that's not the worst about two blocks from my house both drivers side wheel bearings exploded. anyways we had crazy trip and I just wanted to share some pics of the truck.
it's a 1971 chevy 3/4t custom20 4-speed 4x4. It's fuel injected. It has a factory locker. but is pretty bare bones.

Looks like a good truck, but a lot of drama involved.
Most of us have made at least one of those "adventure" trips, trying to drive a truck home that is supposed to run well and you can drive anywhere. You can get them started, but hit the road and dirt plugs fuel, coolant leaks, lack of lube takes over...and you can add more of your own experiences. I don't trust ANY sellers, any more! Always bring a backup tow dolly or better put it on a trailer or big truck. |

Looks like a decent truck. Pull the rubber wheel flares off and it will make a good driver.
Does anyone know if the oil fill tube on the wrong side? I've only seen them on the driver's side.

it's a Warn M8000 it needs some work. the control cables to the cab are frozen. but the under hood controls still work. It might be going on my blazer, if I can find parts for it.
