Fleetside bed disassembly?

Ok, I got the four bolts out of the rear cross sill; is the side panel spot-welded somewhere? Too much rust for me to see any spot locations.......

My bed was spot welded were the bed sides meet the rear cross sill. On top of the rear cross sill. I'll try to get a pic for you.

Re: Fleetside bed disassembly?

Thanks! The more I look at it, it looks like the rear sill is seam welded down the side to the outside at the area you show.....sounds like a little Dremel work is called for.

Thanks again,

Paul

Re: Fleetside bed disassembly?

i'll try and get a picture of the what the PO did to the bed of my truck....what a retard!! it looks like stick welding the way he welded the floor patches on, and then he welded a patch going from the bed floor to the wheel well!! he gets the dunce cap award from me

Re: Fleetside bed disassembly?

I just spent last weekend removing a fleetside bed from a '63. The carriage bolts were so rusty I decided to use a reciprocating saw and I cut all the cross bars and right down the middle of the wheel wells. I will post some pics later.........................
