Heads up. LED Cargo light insert from Custom Classic L.E.D. Lighting

Guy's just a little heads up on another awesome thing Ryan Reum and Joel are doing.

---A custom LED insert for the stock cargo light to make it a bright red third brake light when the brakes are on.. but when they are off it looks totally (undetectably) bone stock. The thing is awesome.

For some reason the digital camara cannot pic up the redness of the led's. In real life the light is bright red that is even thoughout the whole cargo light, but in the pic's it looks pink to whitish.

Installation Is easy. Plop in the board in the cargo light, hook up
a ground and run the positive wire to the the white white connected to the switch above the brake pedal. (i tested by pushing the brakes and also with lights
and turn signals. Works perfect)

Please post if you are insterested in this. (trying to help Joel and Ryan know whether others are interested in something like this)

Thanks

Tom

I remember longhornmail designed one of those for his truck last year. Not sure if it was LED though. I wish my truck came with a cargo light.

Thumbs up

I will be making things of this nature by hand. For the time being. The third brake light insert requires hard wiring. It has 60 LEDs (if I remember correct of the top of my head) I can make these for $45.00 And also the basic third brake light set-up eliminates your cargo light.

Remember the cost is a little higher due to the fact that it takes alot more time being as they are hand assembled and cut. But at the same time you'll be part a just a few people with one! LOL

70c10, I'm glad some one remembered.
If you do it yourself, you can retain white light function AND third brake light.

How hard is it to add a cargo light or 3rd brake light? Anyone got an extra laying around? I know I'd like an LED 3rd brake light!

Yes you can add a cargo light. You just need to buy the assembly from a 67-72 parts place I'm sure. And do a little cutting! LOL

But if you really want the added safty and looks of LED third brake light and don't want to lose your cargo light I can make a insert with white LEDs and red LEDs but it'll cost a bit more white LEDs are the most expensive.

We have a limited supply of production tail light inserts available. $75.00 act fast.

And I can make the third brake light inserts for $45.00 Red LEDs only. with cargo/ white LEDs it'll be a cases by case basis.

If you serious e-mail Joel for tail inserts or me for custom hand made work/ third brake inserts. But e-mailing us direct is the best method.

I came across a cargo light assembly a couple days ago on e-bay. Would have linked it here if I'd known that anybody was interested in adding them. Sorry.

If you do the cargo/brake combo w/ leds, how bright will it be for the cargo light? same, less, or more bright. like the third brake light idea, but use my light on occasion.

wnc mountain I can make the third brake light to keep the cargo light function and have third brake . It uses 24 Ultra bright white LEDs and 84 red LEDs. It's spendy though. But the third brake LEDs are the same brightness as the brake lights on the tail inserts

Well in perspective the red LEDs we use are 1300 mcd, and the white are 3200! So it's over double as bright. mcd is how they measure brightness in LEDs

I like the idea of the of the third brake light, plus cargo light. Kind of like a Canadian flag!! (at least in my head) Would look real neat if one side of the brake light flashed with the turn signal, while opposite end stayed bright with brake light, kind of like the regular tail lights....

I'm far off from getting these inserts though, as the rear end of my truck looks like hell still! (tail light section anyway)
