fuel pluming help

I'm having a problems with my 72 fuel tank pluming, the fuel pump has a inlet and delivery but there’s an extra fuel line at the pump when I fill the tank it leaks for a little wile then it stops, like if it was an over flow ?????? Can anybody help me with this?

The extra outlet on your pump should be about 1/4" in diameter and is intended as a return to your tank. The tank sending unit should have a dual line setup on the sending unit for the return line to route to. In effect you should have two gas lines running from the tank to the fuel pump, (the smaller one is a return line).
