Binary A/C safety switch voltage

I have installed my NAP Underdash unit in my 67 and I am about to vacuum/charge the system.

I mounted the Hi/Lo(binary) switch on the drier. I turned the ignition on and checked the voltage at the switch, not hooked to the compressor yet btw, and I have no voltage or a very small amount there, like 0.12v. I turned the fans on and turned the thermostat full cold....no change in voltage.

Question is: What voltage should I see there? What voltage does the compressor require from this switch?

It's fed off the same 12 volts as the fans, which work fine.

Thanks,
JD

Re: Binary A/C safety switch voltage

Just to be honest with you - I didn't even check mine when I did my install. (I have an underdash unit as well, not NAP).

But if it is new, I'd just go ahead with it. Make sure you have good connection and go. It's just a failsafe anyhow. Not really a "requirement" perse.

I don't think there is any way to check mine now that everything is hooked up and running...(without probing the wires).

If you move the decimal to the right you have 12v. I would think you should get 12 volts though. Could be wrong but I too have never checked.

Good one. Maybe when the compressor is hooked up it completes it or somethin', I dunno. Or maybe is't got a resistor.

The NAP underdash unit, by the way, was a snap to install, checki it out. I also bought the high mount compressor bracket. Great stuff!
