help with frame
i want to build my own frame but i dont know how high to raise the front frame rails. i want a 4.5" ride hieght and the tires are 27". i also want to build my own control arms and do not want drop spindles. as you can see i am on a tight budget but i also like building stuff. any help will be great.

Basically, the most inexpensive frame options are 4X2 or 3X2 rec tube. If you go with 4X2, you will lose 2" of frame width and 3" with 3X2. Use at least 3/16 thick wall tubing and 1/4" if you don't mind the weight and extra expense. Also gusseted, angular cross beams (even small diameter and guage) will greatly improve the torsional stiffness and overall integrity of the frame. If you are bagging the truck, a very inexpensive and cool option is sealing the frame up and welding in bungs to use the whole frame as your air tank. But if you are a novice welder, I would recommend paying someone to seal it up...
