Re: Demon Carburetor
i run a 575 VE (vaccuum sec, electric choke)speed demon
it runs great had trouble getting it tuned right but i feel it was worth it seems to me they flow more than they are rated(used to run a 650 holley on my old 283 so i bought a 650 demon and it flowed to much so i stepped down to 575, now i run it on my new 406 and it runs good, there will prolly be alot of answers on this post with some saying yes, and some people have had problems with them and will say no, i say go for it if you have the spare cash, plus they polish up nice

Re: Demon Carburetor
I just sold about $1,000 worth of Holleys I had collected and dropped $550 on a 750 Mighty Demon. I will never run a Holley again. I think they're great for the 1/4 mile, but the Demon seems to be a lot more streetable. Just my 2 cents

Re: Demon Carburetor
A work friend took his Demon carb/454/66 Corvette to the Chassis Dyno a few months back. 1st (baseline) pass was lean. Upon opening it up for jets, they discovered one of the main jets had machining debris plugging the hole. Once that was straightened out, it ran fine and he loves it.

Love the demon i have its on my wifes 70 camaro, once it was tunned i had no issues, even after several motor upgrades. Best of all it came with a video on how to tune it.Its been fine for about 5yrs. Never go holley again.

Re: Demon Carburetor
Demons are great carbs, I would recommend dropping the dough on one. They are easy to work on, and parts interchange with Holley, etc... Do make sure you remove the metering blocks and bowls and check for debris, although I think Barry Grant has addressed these kind of issues, it's still good insurance. And do make sure you follow the idle tuning insturctions to the tee. If it's the right carb for your application, not much else will be required. For a wealth of knowledge about Demon carbs, check out this site: www.hotrodders.com. Here's some pics of my Demon 725 rebuild last week.

Re: Demon Carburetor
I used to have a 650 demon on my pontiac. The demon does look slicker but I can promise you there wont be any more HP over an Holley. The owner of the mashine shop I go to, races circle track and always finishes within the top three and he wont get near a Demon, he swears on Holley. I have read an entire article on this and they had both carbs in the dyno room. If Im not mistaken there the holly was 5 hp stronger. if you care for looks go for demon!

Re: Demon Carburetor
Hmmm....guess Im gonna break the good critism line here and say that personally I dont care for them.
My dad put one on his (gasp!) Ford, it ran great at first, but after about 20K miles the idle circuit went out. Marty Chance of Neil Chance converters also had one on his Hemi truck....he ripped it off and litteraly threw it in the mud outside. And working at parts stores/hanging out in speed shops for the past few years Ive heard damn near everything about carbs. Heres what Ive observed... > Based on the Holley 4150, uses most of the same parts. > Good "Race" carb > Not to streetable for daily drivers(need tuned too often) > They're shiny What Ive observed.... > Very close to tuned and good to go out of the box > Not a good carb for something that gets driven on Sundays or sits between shows > Like being treated mean at the tracks, doesnt care for being babied on the street > Id buy a Street Avenger over a free Demon > They're shiny

Re: Demon Carburetor
I run the 750 speed Demon on my Lemans 350. Had to jet it down but it runs like a scalded cat. Love the throttle response and when you open the hood it looks nice also. I like the finish and the machine quality of the Demon. Well worth the extra $$. just my .02

Re: Demon Carburetor
I really like my Demon Carb. I have the 500 cfm 2 barrel. It put new life in my old GMC. Was only $40 more than the Holey.

Re: Demon Carburetor
My break down
Q-Jet > Holley > Edel > Demon See it's all personal opinion and past experiences. BEST advice go with what ya know or what your mechanic knows about you will be better off. They all are gonna have bad units from time to time but, they all have there good points too. RJ22... |

Re: Demon Carburetor
Regardless of what brand you choose make sure to talk to the manufacture to get the proper product for your combination, and how you're going to use it.
