Re: fleetside wood bed kits?

Short fleet beds did not come with wood, you have to get a long bed kit and modify it usually.

Re: fleetside wood bed kits?

thanks ivan. Mar-K actually has a couple of options for wood-bed kits. does anybody know what it would take to convert from a steel to wood floor?

Re: fleetside wood bed kits?

Well my guess would be purchasing the complete kit from Mar-K, with wood planks, crossmembers, chrome hold-down rails, and all the rest, and then cutting yer stock steel bed off and first welding or bolting up the crossmembers, and finally laying down the wooden planks. In any case bed will have to come off the truck.

Re: fleetside wood bed kits?

thanks again, ivan. i went back to the Mar-K website and actually found that they have a kit for the conversion but it's for 67-72 pickups. i'll have to call monday and see if i can use them on a 74 and just drill new holes.

http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com<<<<<< Take a look at this link. Bruce Horkey offer the real deal, or "show deck" kits if you just want the look.

Re: fleetside wood bed kits?

thanks for all the help guys. did some comparasons. Mar-K's oak wood and polished bolt sets are cheaper than Horkey's ( $123 less for the wood, $28 less for the bolts). the skid strips are the same in price.

i do like the convenience of that show deck from horkey's but at $1000 + shipping for a longbox fleetside? it does come with everything including a finishing kit tho. Mar-K it's $727 +shipping for the wood, bolts, and strips and you have to get all the finishing materials and try to find the cross sills and everything at the junk yard. i'd just be worried about the old steel bedding rotting out and ruining the wood you just paid a grand for.
