Help with frame z on 67

now that i am almost finished with the rear of my 67 i need to move on to the front. im gonna get the frame z'ed and crossmember raised. how much should i raise both? what problems will i run into with engine placement, tranny placement, steering, and anything else? whats been your experiences? how much did it cost to have done? i already have a quote from the guy that did the rear of the truck but i wanna know what the usual price is.

Re: help with frame z.....

i believe you should do them both equally, and i dont think it affects the steering, the engine and tranny will be lifted up and need to be kept level with each other but other than that im not sure

Were you happy w/the work he's already done on your truck? If so, you're already money ahead even if his price is more than others.

How much did he quote you?
What exactly (in writing) will he be modifying?

Sounds like a fair deal to me if he does good work. There is a lot of hard labor involved in all of this. Does he know what he's getting into?

That's a lot of work for $800! If you have dealt with him in the past and have been pleased with the quality of work then he's your man.

Re: Help with frame z on 67

why copper line?
we were just talking about this and how it has a low tolerance for heat and it's softer. why not run stainless hardline?

Nevermind i found it. Why do you z the frame instead of body drop the truck?

Because on these trucks, the frame rail is already within 1" of the rockers. Body drops put the sheetmetal @ the lowest point instead of the frame rails & many would rather a frame rail drag on something vs. their sheetmetal.

'Tohmayto', 'Tuhmahto'..... They both accomplish similar results & there's alot of work involved either way you go.

Re: Help with frame z on 67

but body dropping make you lose more interior space. unless you stock floor body drop it. but 800 is dirt cheap for all the work thats involved. i was going to pay my friend 1000 just for the z. and i have seen copper line on trucks before, i think people use it because it is easier to work with and cheaper.
