Hi from San Antonio, TX
Hi all! Cool board! I actually just moved to S.A. from Detroit. Better weather, less expensive, and less gunfire.
I don't really know much about these trucks, so I joined this board to learn. My brother-in-law lives nearby, and he has a '71 C10 stepside. It has an inline 6 and 3-on-the-tree. It doesn't run, and has been sitting in the yard (he lives in the sticks) for a couple of years I think. He mentioned getting it running and fixing it up. While we could probably get the mechinical pieces working again, the body concerns me. The bed looks rusted pretty badly, and in fact there is no longer a floor in the bed. I think it rusted through and fell out. He has a sheet of plywood sitting in there as a floor. I searched this board looking for info on replacement beds. I noticed several vendors offer individual panels, but I'm confused on whether or not a complete bed is available, or all of the parts to make a new bed. It also has rusted rocker panels, which from searching this board looks like a common problem. I can probably get some pictures this weekend, and post them for opinions. I'm just wondering if it is worth attempting to restore the truck, or if it would be better to sell it to someone for a parts truck. Anyway, thanks to all on the board for sharing so much information! |
