Had to cool her down!!!
Just like it says ,couple weeks ago me,my dad and asa (see ten) went to a cruise in about 50 mile away, No problem getting there but at this cruise in
you had to idle around it before you parked, thats the part she didnt like (thats my truck Im talking about) She didnt boil but she was close. I just didnt have enough air flow at idle.So I got to looking for some fans and found some from Skip White performance. Two 11" fans (universal) Had to make a bracket for them and pick up a adjustable thermostat controller form local auto parts store!!Few hours in the shop and presto, shes chilling!!Shes running cooler than ever. Last night was the first trip in her seens the cruise in and I left here parked for over 20 min (with the air on,wife in truck) while I went in the store,It was cooler than going down the road. I have about $175.00 In the whole deal ,so far Im very pleased!! Heres a few pics for ya,there not that good.I took these right after I bolted them on,Needs cleaned up little!! |

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
i really like your stance... what is your drop? and, nice rims! i ordered my trim rings yesterday! beautiful paint too... i cant wait to get mine back to factory original (mine was dark olive/white too)
i really REALLY like the dropped stance.. but now that i have the rallys on, i suddenly dont think its so hideous anymore. ive always wanted a dropped 2wd truck, so now im totally torn! |

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
71see10... another question for ya, since you have the same rallys as i do. what size tire are you wearing? and how much rubber to the trim rings cover up, overhanging the outside of the rim?

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
The drop is a 2 1/2 drop spindle and 5" drop springs (rear) I was wanting a more level look! Tire size is 255/70r15,as for the rubber being coverd up there isnt any,the ring stops at the rim,the wheels are 8" wide. And the tire is 28"tall
I hope Im not off on your question to much!! Thanks alot ! Brian |

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
The $175 should pay itself back eventually with improved gas mileage too.
Wonder why Detroit wasn't thinking that way in the early 70's. A/C and fan install looks great. That's exactly how I want my BBC A/C install to look when finished. Great job.

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
Would you be intersted in doing another one? I'd like to do a dual fan setup, but they're usually kind-of pricey for a bolt in setup.

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
if the mechanical fan was placed 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the shroud, it probably woulda done the trick.
Detroit didn't go to electric fans untill they were forced to due to the engines being installed sideways. The bummer was, the fans of the days (80's) weren't up to the task, and mechanics replaced MANY a head gasket becouse of this. The fans are just now getting top be durable enough to do it. |

Re: Had to cool her down!!!
OK guys -
I will donate my time and tools to doing a full picture write-up with 71see10, but you have to help me raise the $175 or so to get the parts... Then, we can all benefit from it? I have done extensive write-ups before. I can provide evidence. DLB |
