It's a safety feature and they don't want people jacking with it thats why they put other important systems into it's Pwr. circuit.
Just tell the Gate boy tough $hit the truck has a DRL system.
They should know this anyway, Like previously stated the systems have been around for years and they should not be deactivated!

Sounds a bit harsh, govt gates have that policy for a good reason.

you can repeat the process to turn them back on or turn the vehicle off as stated.
