Any trick to removing a window regulator?
My first post...I'm in the process of changing out a window regulator for my '70 c10, drivers side. The problem is I can't get the main window to slide back far enough to remove the side view window. Any tricks of the trade out there? Thanks...

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
If I remember right roll the window all the way down, then take out the 4(?) screws that hold the regulator in. This should let it drop back some more and then it will still be a snug fit getting the wing window out but she does come out. good luck!!

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
I believe the main window has to come out first, then you remove the side window. The track on the window has a couple slots that you have to have lined up with the rollers before you can work it out. Check out the FAQ forum and there is an index that has a link to a post about pulling the windows.
Oh, welcome to the board!

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
i replaced a regulator in 30 minutes the other day
1) remove window felts by pulling hard with vice grips (you'll need new ones) 2) remove vent window. (3 screws in door jamb, 2 under the door panel, then tilt back and pull out, bend 90 degrees, and pull it all the way out 3) loosen the rear track (2 screws) and slide it all the way towards the edge 4)roll window up all the way and slide the glass foward to get the rear roller out and then slide it back to the notch and remove the glass from the front roller (can be seen in the faq here on the board) 5) lower the regulator (no glass now) 6) unbolt it from door, 4 screws Last edited by matthufham; 07-18-2007 at 05:05 PM. |

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
thanks!
That was (WAS) the button that kicked over the starter. Had all sorts of weird switches when I bought the truck, mostly because there were no keys for the doors. It is now not doing anything. Standard one you can get at any Kragen etc. J

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
I ordered mine from ECE and they fit/work perfectly. Better than new. I'd check with them unless you've already bought some.

Re: Any trick to removing a window regulator?
Classic parts seems to be a good 20% lower than anyone else on everything, and I have gotten good words about them from people. I was just about to go shopping for ALOT of stuff and I wanted to get as much from one place as possible. Any experiences with them on regulators?
