Re: rat rod pics

If you get a copy of Ol Skool magazine, you'll see what a Rat Rod really is supposed to look like. Basically, a rat rod is built from the parts you find that are not being used...body, engine, etc. Some of them are running, but roadworthy is not part of the description. Big engines, zoomies, blowers, brakes on two rear wheels only, no glass in the body, only a driver's seat, no upholstery, etc.

I started a post a couple years ago about rat rods and I guess that my rat rod thinking was really about Old School stuff...primered body, nice painted wheels with rings and caps, big and little tires, front end with a nice rake, but all still very roadable and dependable. Just think late 40's/early 50's decor applied to our bodystyle. Not for everyone, for sure. But that's the great thing about America....do your own thing. Or like Life Is Good says, "Do what you like. Like what you do." If it is your vehicle and you like what it looks like, who are we to say anything bad about it? It's yours. If you want to call it a rat rod, it's a rad rod. I'll call mine Old School.

Rat Rod + Spartan. Really Basic, Large Motor, No Creature Comforts. That's How I Roll. No Air, Heat, Or Radio. If I Get Hot I Hit The Vent Windows ( AKA Redneck A/C ).
