Engine is finally back in. Video Clip added

I have finally gotten my engine back in my truck. The plan was to do the paint and bodywork to the truck before putting the engine back in, but that did not happen. The painter that I chose could not give me a price before he started. So I went to plan B. Plan B is put engine in, replace rocker panel, cab corners, and fenders. I guess I will drive it like it is.

Re: Engine is finally back in.

Engine is out of 70 impala SS. It was the 350 300hp engine. 350 bored .30 over. Forged SRP piston, forged Eagle 6" rods. Compression is around 11 to 1. Reworked the Double Hump heads. 2.02/1.60 valves. Comp Cams xtreme energy 294 cam. Airgap rpm intake with Holley HP 4150 carb. Headers are Headman elite 1 3/4 ceramic headers. Going to put 3" exhaust on truck.

Rebuilt the Trubo 400 with 3200 stall.

I also changed the truck from 6 lugs to 5 lugs. Used 2 1/2 spindles on the front. Going to drop the rear 4 inches.

Re: Engine is finally back in.

With an engine that looks that good, the exterior is secondary! IMO all you really need is some nice looking wheels to make these trucks look good!

I read you can’t break in an engine with ceramic coated headers…or at least with Hookers. You may want to double check that though.

Re: Engine is finally back in.

After doing what your plan was I think you are doing it right and if I had the option to go back and do it again I would first do the motor, trans etc .. then make it look good. Its just so much easier to work on the truck when you dont have to worry about the paint.. get it dialed in and then take it to the booth!!

Re: Engine is finally back in.

I got them from Jegs. They are a expensive compared to other valve covers, but they are worth it. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...49902_-1_11355

Re: Engine is finally back in.

how is the ceramic coating holding up? i bought a set for a 69 camaro and they immediately turned to crap after spending extra for the ceramic coating. i had to take em off and send em to get jet hot coated after that. ended up with a ton of money in them, but they are great headers other than that.

Sa-wheeet!

Is this stricty a race vehicle? I have to assume with 11:1 you're not running it on 91 octane...?

Re: Engine is finally back in.

Nice engine. Looks just like mine! Specs are about the same as well...oh and it will run fine with 91. Octane booster wouldn't hurt but you'll have to clean out the carb fairly often if you use it every tank.

Me fricken too.

spent a bunch of time welding up the air injection ports on my Doug thorley's and took them to a local coater......they were beautiful!

Broke in the motor with some crap headers and then put the thorley's on and they dulled quite a bit......dissapointing, and a huge pain in the @ss to take off and get recoated!

So far so good with the headers. They are still looking good.

I do not know how much horse power. But I would guess around 400hp.

I saw your engine, they are almost twins. I hope to change my heads sometime in the future.
