RARE 3-Door Suburban???

I'm almost 54 years old, been a Chevy guy all my life. I've never seen a 4-door 67-72 Suburban! Why does everyone say rare 3-door. I went to the 67-72 Suburban site that someone left a link for and went threw 28 or 29 pages of Suburban pics out of 30 some and every one was a 3-door. (a few pics was from the passenger side) maybe one of them was a 4-door.

All 67-72 burbs were 3 doors, from the factory. I don't know why people claim they're so rare either...

And prior to '67, they were all "rare" 2 doors.

I have had several people try to sell me "Rare" 3 door Suburbans, lol... So I guess it is just a sales technique... Probly some salesmen started calling them rare or something and the term just stuck... I always tell people to find me a 4 door 67-72 suburban!! Now that would be "Rare" LOL.. It would also be fake!! What's funny is they will actually argue the point with you... The only other explanation that I could come up with is that they call the Burbs with rear clam shells a 3 door and a Burb with barn doors maybe a 5 door??? Who knows!! I love to argue the point with them though.... Especially if they are real addiment about it...LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I think they call them rare because all the newer ones are 4 doors and most people are not used to seeing a three door suburban. I find it really funny when my friends go to get in mine and they walk up to where the forth door should be and go " How do I get in?". I just laugh.

The rarity is probably meant to apply to the "Suburban" rather than the fact that it's got 3 doors... or at least that's what the first guy meant and its meaning has been mutated and butchered ever since.

BTW, I just checked my garage and it appears that 3-door Suburbans are indeed rare as I didn't have a single one of them!

I find it amusing that my kids will scoot across the seat to exit from the passenger side door even when we're in a regular four door now.

Is a panel in a 67-72 rare, there was one in my area for sale. I lost the ad. I'll try to check it out if it comes up again.

wease, panels are probably more rare than most. This is due to the fact that fewer were built and also that they tended to be used for delivery service vehicles. This means someone other than the owner drove them and we know he life expectancy of a company truck is usually about 1/3 or 1/4 of an owner driven rig.
