Tubular Control Arms
As you can tell, I have just registered to this board. I've been snooping around for a good 4 months, finally decided to join. This place as got me more motivated about my truck than anything else. One thing I'm having problems with is finding tubular control arms. I plan on lowering my truck either 4/6 or 5/7 and would prefer to do it by lower springs spindles in front and springs and shackles in rear. I know DJM makes the 3" drop tubular control arms, but does anyone know where I can find some that have no drop. DOOCE

Air Ride has standard control arms, but they are inteded to be used with airbags.

Control Freaks, look up Blue Moon Motorsports on google. Theres is only a 1.5 drop and we just installed a set for TRUCK BUILDER and they fit perfectly. It is one of the best aftermarket products ever!!!

Take a look at CPP (Classic performance Products) for tubular control arms that have no drop or some drop. I purchased a set from them for my 68 truck BUT it has the suspension parts from an 87 Chevy 1/2 ton under the front end. I believe their stuff is good and the mounting of the control arms on my project has been easy. They did an install in Truckin' magazine about a year ago of the very same arms on a 68 truck and it was simple. The arms that I have in my shop will fit right on a mid eighties truck.

Here are some pics of the tubular arms before mounting. I haven't gotten back to the garage much since these. The old black A arms are the factory ones that I am replacing. I am mounting these with Bell Tech 3" drop spindles and 1" drop springs.

Yeah, I noticed alot of Okies. Very cool. I dont have any pics on my '86 on this pc just yet, but maybe soon. Its just an '86 SWB with a Jasper 383 and rebuilt 350 turbo with 2.76:1
 gears. Its a project truck that I have sank alot of money in so far. I am hoping to find a 73-78 SWB soon, so if you know of any lmk. DOOCE

I purchased the Bell Tech stuff, through Summit Racing for $249.00, the springs were $130.00, the upper A-arms cost about $335.00 for the pair, with the ball joints installed. The Lower A-arms were around $500.00 with the ball joints installed. I also purchased their shock mount gusset mounts, close ratio power steering unit and the sway bar kit. It sounds pricey, but the simplicity is worth the money to me and the material is of a good quality.
