close up pics of shaved drip rails wanted.... Please
Hello all! I was hoping to see some close up pics of shaved drip rails from different angles. I have shaved about 95% of my drip rails but there are a few areas that just don't look right. Lets see if i can explain this. If you were looking at the driver side door. The right side of the door just above the gas tank hole shave nice and smooth but as you went up the drip rail as it turns to the roof line the shape of the drip rail changes after you shave it. It kind of "lips out instead of tucking in". It is just the angles of the roof line to the door and the angles of the back of the cab to the door. I don't have any pics of my drip rails but this weekend i will take a few pics to help explain what i am talking about. I am making any sence to anyone? Thanks
Josh

I have a question...did you cut the drip rails back or take them off completely?

Yep. You're gonna get that without sectioning that area to lay smooth like FastFun's. There is just an ever so slight ledge left where the driprail was. I've seen them done both ways and both look good IMO. But leaving the body line there is much easier...

Here are a few of Lemon Drop. This one was done by welding in a piece of round stock to smooth out the changes in the body and to keep with the smooth round feel of these trucks not the squarness of the 80's.

If you remove the whole drip rail you need to weld in a filler piece to close the gap. When I am done I will have 3/16 of an inch gap all the way around.
We had to remove the whole drip rail because of rust under the drip rail. If you are ever in the east valley you are welcome to come over and look at my truck. |

So for those who have "sectioned" the roof line about how much did you have to take out to make it have a nice transition and what did you do about the front windshield piller?
