Is a Suburban frame the same as a long bed?

Does anyone know if a suburban frame is the same as a long bed? I am thinking about selling my frame on my 63 and building a new one to do coil overs on...Any help guys would be appreciated!!!

I know on the 67 to 72 trucks there the same other then a body mount or 2 but nothing major I would be the same.

if i remember correctly, the burb is same as short wheelbase pickup 115" or so in those years.

I don't think my frame is the same as a short wheel base. I am working on a 68 suburban now. I will look under the frame tonight to see if it is the same as my 63. Edited by Moderator. Nothing wrong with it.

I thought the 60-66 panels came in short or long and the subs were all long

As I recall the 60-66 suburbans were built on frames that had a 115 inch wheelbase.................the short bed pick-ups also used the same wheelbase................................the long fleetside pick-ups, the long stepside pick-ups and the extended panel trucks were built on 127 inch wheelbase frames........................Obviously the 60-62 trucks had the torsion bar front suspension and aren't that desirable to swap to.....................................the suburban frames just had different body mount points ........................hope this helps clear it up for you................hemmit

I can see from the side view in you avatar Demmit that it's definately not a long wheelbase. Fastbagged's looks long, but it must be because it's sitting on the ground.

So the frames are the same, just different body mounts? Is the tail section longer on a suburban? Learned something new today!!!!

i am doing a 72 burb and used a 87 long bed and had to move rear up 4" there are factory holes in the frame for the rear hangers i had to make frame mounts the wheel base is 128" also on a burb frame it is strait from first cab mount to front of back tire and on pickups it is humped up so you need to make mounts and truck frame is 6" shorter at rear will have better pics soon have frame mounts done and rear moved up will have closeups

I measured my 65 burb and my 66 SWB. Not accurate but the wheel bases and frame lengths are different. Both my truck are apart and stacked with parts against them so I can't give you actual measurements.
