title for truck with replaced frame
I bought a 69 c10 shortbed that is disassembled and the guy bought a 72 chassis for it. I have the title for the 69 but no title for the chassis. Does anyone know if there is anything I need to do to title this truck with a frame that doesn't match the vin #? What do you do if you get an after market frame that has no numbers? This is in arizona if anyone knows specific arizona laws.
Thanks, Brent |

Re: title for truck with replaced frame
In Illinois the VIN that is on the body is the VIN that the vehicle is titled under. I would guess that it is the same in most states. I say title the truck using the VIN that is on the plate riveted to the door post.

Re: title for truck with replaced frame
That is what I was figureing I would do. I was just worried about if they ever had a reason to do an inspection and looked for the frame number. Maybe the frame will need a little repair where the numbers are and they will accidentaly be rendered unreadable.

Re: title for truck with replaced frame
Half of the people at the DMV don't know how to do there job They will never crawl under the truck to look at the frame, so I agree with everybody else.

Re: title for truck with replaced frame
Seems to me that I read a coat or 2 of paint, especially POR15 usually fills in the markings as well.

Re: title for truck with replaced frame
Use the title for the body. If you wreck a new truck and the frame requires replacement, they dont make you re-title it. Same rules apply here.
