Re: Why Why Why.....
Since I am so very PC, I will just say - even us whities have our stupid trucks. I like the guys in 2wd trucks that have huge mudder tires, mossy oak camo seat covers, and that big dear skull sticker on the back glass (and maybe a K&N, Browning, Edelbrock, Cabela's, some other sticker as an accent).
Lol...too bad everybody can't be as cool as us 67-72chevytrucks.com folks! |

Re: Why Why Why.....
Why would any one want Land Rover? I owned one and it was the most expensive POS I have ever owned. 3 recalls in 4 years trans leak, ignition (stranded twice) and transfer case. Wife wanted it. Glad to get rid of them both...

Re: Why Why Why.....
I figure some people look at a model name in the same way the people who came up with it for the model it is known for.Like Land Rover, most automatically link it to the vehicle with the name. But,it was a couple of words that meant something that roves over the land before they used it as a model name. Some people overlook the fact that it will just be associated with the brand and it`s just like calling a Chevy a Toyota.
It`s like now there are Colorados.Hmmm...I thought that was a state. Here`s one...Durango is a town in s/w Colorado. But,Chevy used it for a trim level of an S10.No sooner did they drop that and start using the Euro lettering system and a Durango becomes a mid-sized Dodge suv.A Tahoe was another S10 trim level, then became a full-size suv that should still be a Blazer and the little Bazersshould be called a Tahoe,IMO.Were`s the lineage?"Blazer, since 1969.Then in 1982 there were two. Then 10 years later back to one,but it`s the newer one and the original one took the name of the newer one that it had as a trim level."That just doesn`t sound as good as,"Suburban, since 1935".(although actually they were CarryAlls and a Suburban was a Plymouth station wagon).

Re: Why Why Why.....
I seen an old beat up BMW 318i the other day with a sticker on the back saying "My other Car is a Ferrari". Laughed at that one. Come to find out later that he has 3 of them and the Beamer is his daily driver.
I want to get a small sticker for the truck about 1 inch by 1 inch and put this on it: "If you can read this, you are too fu***n close to my truck".

Re: Why Why Why.....
I forgot another one - the plastic nuts hanging from the bumper. I did see one used funny. They were attached to the bumper of an old Buick that had handicap plates. Not making fun of the handicap - OK.

Re: Why Why Why.....
Kid I went to High School with had a'65 Mustang for awhile. His Dad made him put a 'CHEVROLET' stiker across the back window. Of course, his Dad owned the local Chevy dealership.
That guy closed his dealership the day GM told him he had to have a computer to work on cars.

Re: Why Why Why.....
His dad wasn`t close-minded was he?I was slow to grasp the whole computer thing. But,if I owned a dealership....?I guess he already made his fortune.
Back east, here,we had a best kept secret for years called The Outer Banks of NC.I surfed there in through the`70s and into the`80s.The locals had their own dialect and it was a very special place.Nags Head was a known tourist spot, yet real slow paced.I`m sure alot came expecting more developement, never to return.More and more discovered it over time,so Kitty Hawk and Nags Head grew. This happens everywhere,I know. What does this have to do with stickers? In recent years I see mini vans and suvs with oval "OB" stickers on them running around advertising,"We went to the Outer Banks",for the sake of some prestige.Don`t they realize that little sticker will serve to accelerate the over developement of one of the last natural seashores on the east coast? At least, down where it`s warm enough to swim. You can`t go to the grocery store or a soccer game without seeing half a dozen stickers....

It's an identity thing. Nothing more. I personally don't have any stickers on the outside of my truck. I like to keep people guessing

LOL.
I've been seeing those too. I guess if people didn't have different taste we'd all be bored driving around in the same looking vehicles. |

Re: Why Why Why.....
Re: Buick vents... My neighbor put some on his 68 Dodge pickup??? I had convinced him to leave it as stock as possible-slant six, orginal rims and hubcaps, patina, etc.. I guess he thought it needed some touching up.
I guess for an old Dodge it's okay. They're not the prettiest trucks (my opinion only) As for the other add ons: To some it's a statement. "Look what I've got." To others, it's a joke. "This is MY Land Rover, Cadillac, Porsche, etc... Like a friend that used to ride his horse to the bar (old bar out in the country-this is Texas, you know). He used to call his horse his "chauffeur driven Cadillac." |

Re: Why Why Why.....
Well, right now my wife and I take care of my MIL in Bryan, Tx. I have some land about 30 miles out in the country that I had intended to build on . Also, since I'm thinking of retiring this year, not sure where my home is going to be. Had been thinking of moving closer to my old hometown of Corpus Christi, Tx. Keeping my options open. |
