Late model chevy bench...will it work?
This is the rear seat out of a 96-06 extended cab.
Has anyone tried this?....could you modify regular brackets to fit?....is it too wide or short? Looks like it may be a bit skimpy on padding......don't know. Does anyone else?

Re: Late model chev bench...will it work?
You might be able to make it work, but I'd be leary of it. I have an `03 Sierra with the same kind of bench in the extended cab. I can tell you the bottom is shorter than a normal front bench and the back is more straight up and down to make it fit in an extended cab. Might be a bit awkward in actual usage.
Plus you'd definitely have to make new brackets for mounting. They are offset. Last edited by DoobieBrother; 08-28-2007 at 06:00 PM. |

I've heard the rear seat from a tahoe bolts right in or close to it. I have a seat out of a '91 in my '68. Had to do a little drilling but it fits nice.

What year tahoe are we talking about. My current seat is lacking in comfort and looking for something to replace it with.

I have a late model front seat in mine, but it might work if not find its brother for the front and mount that one in the bed for some tailgate cruisn

Yes. Tahoe middle row would work much better than extended cab back seat. It has more bottom to it, a more reasonable back angle, and brackets that aren't offset.

Hey Alschevy, did that seat bolt right up, or did you have to drill any holes?

Re: Late model chev bench...will it work?
I have a second seat from a '98 Tahoe, in tan leather. It isn't what I wanted, but it's what I have. PUTTER has one in his truck and had a nice thread on how to install it.
What I really want is a 40/20/40 seat like the one in my '96 Sierra regular cab. A 92-99 second-row seat from a Tahoe or Suburban has no fore/aft adjustments, so you'll have to fit it to your truck for your butt. The flop-forward bottom cushion gives some storage space that is easy to get to. I think two holes line up and you have to drill two more and add something to space the seat into the right angle for your liking.
