I FEEL LIKE A ROOKIE and i,am so dumb sometimes
well i,ve been a mechanic since 1970 and worked on about everything except an airplane ( glad i didnt now ) anyway i had to remove a front ring & pinion from a dana 60 axle today. its like 100 degrees and i,ve already done about 6 hrs on another truck so i promissed the fella so here i went to it after work. i pulled all the brakes, p/side axle, yoke, drained the diff, removed the carrier caps, put the hsg. spreader on it and the bugger wouldnt budge..... so i looked and tryed to gently pry it. one side is loose andi got all bum fuzzled so i called on my best helper ( his name is JESUS CHRIST ) for help. just then it hit me....... you dummy you didnt pull the d/s axle shaft out. glad knowbody was there except my shop dogs and they were playing so they didnt notice what a numskul i am....... lol on me today. that ole devil sure has been pickin on me alot lately. WONT DO HIM ANY GOOD THOUGH.

Re: I FEEL LIKE A ROOKIE and i,am so dumb sometimes
Sounds like me when I couldn't figure out why the cam wouldn't come out of my old 327. Finally got fed up and looked at the old Chilton's... No help... Took another look and the fuel pump was still bolted up... Took about an hour of head scratching before I noticed it.

Re: I FEEL LIKE A ROOKIE and i,am so dumb sometimes
Well, I joined the "Rookie Club" again today. I have been working on cars, truck, tractors, motorcyles and such for well over 40 years and today when I was putting the radiator back in my '92 GMC I failed to look for interferences when I put the radiator in and seated it in the mounts.
After I finished hooking up all the hoses, putting the anti-freeze in it and such I tried to find the front differential vent hose to hang in on the fan shroud and couldn't find it, after looking for a while I realized it was pinched under the radiator. I had to remove the mounts and lift the radiator up some so I could pull it out. Boy! Some days it seems the "Senior Moments" seems to come way too often. Danny - Southeast Missouri |

Everyone is human and makes mistakes and this unbearable heat we have had in August takes its toll on a person as well.
