new socks on sender

im in the pross of changing my gas tanks on my85 k20 due to rust .my questoin is can i change just the sock on the senders or do i have to change the whole sender .the both are acurate on the readings.thanks jim

you can replace just the socks if the rest of it is ok.

If you find a place to buy JUST THE SOCK please let me know...

I looked at Napa, Autozone, Checker, Pro auto parts, the dealership, LMC, and many many online stores to try to find just the sock, and couldn't find a thing. If I remember correctly also, the sock is permanently attached to the metal washer on the pickup tube.

Good luck with this one. I'll be watching to see what you come up with.

You can replace just the sock/strainer, however if your replacing the tank due to rust, and stuff....sounds like for the whole $60 the sender will cost, I would just replace everything Tank, Sender...a sock will come with the new sender

you might try advance auto? im not shure if they are in your area, they seem to have parts that i never can get anywhere else? im going there tuesday, i will look for you guys... its just a standard sock? by its self with out the pickup tube?

The "sock" is a fuel pump strainer. ACDelco Part # 5651711, Im sure there are more part numbers and brands.

i caled a local dealer a guy there said he could get them supposed call after holiday will keep u posted and hopefully some pics
