NEED: Wiring Diagram??????????
Hey Guys I need a wiring diagram for a 68 C10 short bed stepside pickup. All the lights work I figured that part out but I don't know how to hook up the ignition switch to the starter and all that jazz. The guy who overhauled my 307 doesn't know about the wiring to the engine parts. I know I can do it my self just need to find out what goes where. All I know is that the big purple wire goes to the starter (I think), but I don't know where on the starter it goes. It's wired to start with a wire from the starter and the distributer, connect one to the battery and touch the other to the positive blah blah it starts, I know that. I'm guessing wherever the wire is on from the starter thats where the purple wire goes. I'll stop typeing now I'm trying to have a conversation with no one to answer, some one help me out!!!!!!!!!
After this and the shifting (to be finished this week) and the brakes (soon...) My 68 will be unstopable!!!!! I am very excited, I'm 22 and this is my first vehicle that I've put a lot of money into..help me out ya'll. ------------------ IN A TUX WITH A 68 BOWTIE.

ill help all i can
the purple wire goes from the inside terminal (closest to block) on your startor. the green, brown and blackish wires with like a 3 prong plug in is for headlights. blue and purple with 2 prong plug in is park lamps. dark green big wire single plug is for horn. blue red white and brown going into a 4 prong flat plug goes to the volateg regulator on the drivers side of radiator support under hood. the blue and white wires plug into the back of the altenator. the large red wire with a O terminal goes to the back of the altenator.a large red wire should go to a junction block on the right fender by the battery, a red wire should also run from this to the positive end on the battery cable. there should also be a blackish wire with a large plac ein it (fuse i beleive) going to this. ground wires should bolt to the radiator support. there should be a 10-12 gauge wire going from the BAT terminal on your distributor to IGN UNFUSED on the fuse block. you will need spade connectrs on each end of this wire.

Swingsax68,
It sounds like time to invest in a shop manual. Haynes makes one with the wiring diagram in the back. In fact, the 67-72 Wiring Diagrams link, appears to be scanned from the same book. Hmmm, wonder if that might be copyright infringement? Maybe it's a GM diagram. ------------------ '68 C-10 LWB, '98 Z-71 350 w/accessories (Serpentine), Edelbrock Performer, Edelbrock 1405 (600cfm) carb, GM HEI, CompCam Extreme 4x4 roller cam, Thorley Headers, Carter Electric Fuel Pump, Vintage Air, 700r4, 3.73, disc brakes and power steering upgrades. Way too much money and time..But it's a hobby.
