"Proiect Stepside" begins!!

I picked up a new project last month from a good friend who needed to lighten his load. Luckily it is exactly what I have been wanting for a few years now.

I started out today by removing the heater boxes inside and out as well as the glove box liner and battery box. I got the page together as a starter for the project at hand. It will be a 2-3 year project but I will be updating the pages as I go. First comes cleanup, then underhood paint....sure is going to be fun!

Looks like a great start. You said a bed from exotic wood. What kind of wood are you thinking? I myself want something other than oak or pine and was just curious as to what you're going to use.

Re: "Proiect Stepside" begins!!

I am a deckbuilder and I use a hardwood from Brazil in the Walnut family. I am trying to get a line on 1x8's, the only size no one carries. Aside from that wood I plan to offer various colorful hardwoods from all around the globe. I have a supplier in the area that can get highly figured woods. I made this table for my wife using wood from his shop.

Thats some nice wood

Why don't you just buy 1x10's or whatever you can get and rip em down to 1x8's ???

Re: "Proiect Stepside" begins!!

The largest width of this board in stock is 6". Getting 1x10's would be very hard. It is in huge demand from all the construction....so much so that it went up 50 cents per linear foot last week.

Good thing is the wood will last 40 years....25 without a finish of any kind. I doesn't even float in water.

Good looking truck. Enjoyed looking at some of the decks you have built shown at your website - you do very nice work!

Nice truck and table for that matter. I've got a couple of brothers that live in Poetry off F M 1565.
