Why cant I find... fuel pump 72 BBC!!! AARRGH..

I told a freind of mine that I would change his fuel pump on his VERY OEM 72 cheyenne super. No problem I say, and go to the parts store pick one up with the right numbers and get to work... When I come to hook the steel outlet to carb line on I see the angle of the female fuel pump fitting is different than the OEM line... hmmmm... no problem, Ill just go back and get another pump... well to make a long story short, I have tried just about every parts place locally (four of them) and they all supply the exact same pump, with the same angle fitting... Ill post pics later, but is this something unique??? He is the second owner of the truck and the number stamped into the carter carb is correct for a 72 C20 truck w/402... I also found out ACDelco does not supply them anymore, and the new manufacturer may have consolidated a bunch of BBC fuel pump numbers into the most common design and sell them out under one number... I really dont want to bend, or create a carb to pump line since this thing is still 99% original... but I am frusterated as all he** on this.... any help???

Rock Auto has a bunch of them with photos, you can see maybe if it looks like the OEM one. rockauto.com They have stuff that the parts stores don't... Just did an HID bulb on my wife's G35..Napa - Nada. RockAuto.com, Check!

Great service & prices. Hope this helps.

Re: Why cant I find... fuel pump 72 BBC!!! AARRGH..

Well here's the pic of this... notice the angle of the outlet with respect to the fuel inlet. The Carter that came off the truck is below and the angle betwen the two is nearly 90 degrees. The new replacement pump (NAPA and AutoValue are the EXACT same) is about 70 degrees. After exhausting my local searches I decided to heed advice and I ordered two from Rockauto... one is ACDelco part number 40963 for a 73 c20 w/454, and the other is an Airtex, part #40693 for a 72 C20 suburban w/402. There was no listing for a 72 c20 w/402 for a fuel pump... who knows... the pics look close, but looks like I'll have to eat the shipping on them... Is there any Delco Part number for this thing outthere??? Delco only goes back to 1973 on there site and its a different number in my 70 service manuals... Thanks again...
