How many instrument clusters were made???

I just have 1 question....... How many freaking instrument clusters were made for these trucks?? I went to a swap meet yesterday and it seemed like every other guy had 1 or more they were trying to unload and I know it has been like that for as long as I can remember! I am sure this has come up on here before... Just think its funny! I brought it to my friends attention and he was amazed too..... Where did all the trucks go with missing clusters???

Re: How many instrument clusters were made???

How many instrument clusters..well as many as there was 67-72s made!
There's trucks (mostly in junkyards) all over the place missing the clusters..Especially if they had tach, vac, speedwarning, etc.Pretty easy to remove and can sell for $25-$30 for a basic setup most of the time..dont even mention the worth of tac/vac/speedwarning dashes..
When I scrap a truck, the gauges are one thing I always keep, unless severly damaged I either sell them or add them to the collection...

Re: How many instrument clusters were made???

I think because they are easy to pull out and there is a perception that they are worth a lot (they're not, unless you have a tach), guys tend to pull the instrument panel out of a junked truck first.

Someone pulled mine out of my Blazer years ago.Always baffled me.What happened to theirs?Maybe they didn`t have gauges? This was in the`80s.

Re: How many instrument clusters were made???

These are always good to have for spare guages, even w/ out a tach or vacuum guage. A LOT of these trucks were scrapped. Why not pull whatever parts you can before it gets crushed?
