Re: Anyone know how this was done?
I don't know, but if you use MBZ or Volvo hinges, you get the ability to lock the hood in the vertical position.
Just food for thought.

Re: Anyone know how this was done?
This is just a guess but the hinges look like 82-92 s-10 hinges. And the struts look like off of a third gen camaro or firebird rear hatch hinges. Which makes sense cause the hatches on those are bout twice as heavy as the 67-72 hoods and I installed a new set on a firebird that I had and it almost opened up by itself when I unlocked it.

Re: Anyone know how this was done?
what i don't see in the pics is the safty hook at the rear of the hoodthat prevents the hood from being driven through the windshield and decapatating you in the event of a front end collision when those undersize fasteners give way

Re: Anyone know how this was done?
Here's a couple more. Just about every square inch of this truck had something done to it.
I have to agree with Long68 the hinges look like 82-92 s-10 hinges. And the struts look like off of a third gen camaro or firebird rear hatch hinges. As far as my "9" mods performed comment, maybe it was a bit of an exaggeration, but not much.

Re: Anyone know how this was done?
they look like some kind of car trunk hinges or you could use a suicide door hinge kit. it looks like he added a spacing block on the hood so the hinges would meet. then you add the suport struts and your off to the truck show.
