70 GMC beater ride

hey guys, picke dup the 70 yesterday. has a 307 with a eddlebrock intake, quadrajet 4brl, cam, double roller timing chain, thorley headers, electronic ignition.
the truck has coils on all 4, and is the custom version. so it has all the trim.
plans are,
drop it pretty low, steel wheels painted bright green, flat black paint, remove all trim, remove rear bumper, remove mirrors and replace with a peep, and drive the piss out of it whil i work on getting my 50 dodge truck on the road. i took the trim off the box today, as well as the pass side mirror, and one of the mufflers was shot so i through a new cherrybomb on it. sorted out some light issues. truck works good with the 3spd stick on the floor.
hope to have the rest of the trim off tomorw and get iot ready for mid week painting. using teh flat black tremclad with a foam roller. wanted to try this method out, thought this was the perfect canvas.
here's some pics, i will update as i go.

whats a good bench seat with a centre consol that flips up that is a good size for a swap?
is there a smaller profil lense covers for the roof lights? not fond of them, but what can ya do?

Re: 70 GMC beater ride

ordered some peep mirrors today, will be here before lunch tomorw.
need to do something diferent with my exhaust, it is pretty loud. need to use the truck to drop my daughter off at kindergarten.LOL
whats a decent quiet muffler thats not to expensive? i have a cherrybombs on it now and it is kind of annoying.
the tail pipe runs all teh way to the back, i may just dump them out the side before the rear wheels?

swapped my neighbour who is building a blazer the stock radio and $20 for the steel wheels with beauty rings.
not sure what to do with the side trim off the truck? are they worth anything?

the PO swapped ina floor shift as well, now the speedo cable won't mount. is there a 90 degree adapter or something like that? the calibration one maybe? how much are they usually?

Re: 70 GMC beater ride

here's some updated pics. got all the trim off, and the peep mirrors on. need to fill the trim holes and paint it. have a gallon of flat black here waiting. trying to find time to lower it as well.
the wood bed is in pretty decent shape as well.

Re: 70 GMC beater ride

i must say, it's a good lookin' truck. And, as much as i like options, i'm still fond of the trimless look.

what're you going to do with the old trim? if you don't mind me asking.

Re: 70 GMC beater ride

If you consider that a "beater", then I have no idea what I should be calling my truck.....

Re: 70 GMC beater ride

thanks, i am liking the truck more and more. still need to do a bunch of stuff.
i just have the trim sitting there in my driveway. think everything is there except the two lower pieces that go between the front fenders and the bumper are kind damaged a bit.
are they worth anything?
