67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
I found this yesterday and thought it was very interesting. Thought that I'd share it and see what everyone here thinks. They are saying that the 67-72s are going to go the same route as the tri-five Chevys. Guess we will wait and see. ...Joe http://www.sporttruck.com/techarticl...cks/index.html

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
Good read, and shows that our trucks are worth more if there in decent condition. Like we've talked about lately on other threads our trucks are not goin' down in price.

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
I shudder to think of the 55, 56 and 57's I used to own. I have absolutely no ability to think in the future. I mean, who would have ever guessed that an AMC Gremlin or Pacer would have a cult following? The people who think Edsels are valuable think their own "just needs a battery" model is worth 1 large bill. Never mind the rust and missing trim.
I'm happy to read articles like this, to support my fragile ego. My main problem is that I remember these being new and knowing I wasn't really hyped up on getting one. Had it not been for my son's first vehicle, a '69 C-10, I wouldn't have mine. In this case, my son's truck was an inspiration to me. Now, if I can get my old neighbor to sell me his '55 210 2-dr sedan, the one his great grandfather bought new in Sept of 55....the one with 43K actual miles.....a 265/PG car with music and heat.....I'd have a 52 year old car with 43K miles....and that is what it drives like, too. But he won't sell and I don't blame him.

Wonderful. Something else I won't be able to afford soon. Everything fun to play with is skyrocketing...no wonder alot of young people buy imports.

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
My sentiments exactly bro. I was already kicking myself enough for selling my 71 GMC K1500 4 years ago enough as it was, especially since the GMCs are harder to find in 4x4 configuration than the Chevys. Then I read this and now have to kick myself even harder for it. I doubt that I'll ever find another 4x4 truck of this vintage that I can afford ever again.

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
I didn't know that it had already been posted here or I wouldn't have posted it for the second time. I ran across it on another board that I frequent, and am a member of. I thought that it was a pretty cool article that would be of interest to any 67-72 GM truck owners.
Before I posted this I looked on the list of posts that had been put up the last couple of days but I couldn't find anything similar so I posted it too. I guess that I just didn't look down far enough on the post list. Sorry for the same post on the same article guys. ...Joe

Someone should have brought this up in the poll for "will are trucks reach an unreachable price for the common folk" (ya its not an excact quote)

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
Hey ChaseDale3and8...
Don't worry about the re-post. This is something that needs to be re-read because it shows that our trucks are classics indeed. There are always new readers and members on this board who may not have seen the initial post. This should be posted evey so often because it is a great read. to this board. Great bunch of people (at least 99.9%) who have knowledge and are willing to offer a helping hand.

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
No offense taken. I just didn't want to take up board space for the same thing that had already been done. Like has been said before though, this is one active board, and it's easy to miss a post! That's the main reason that I love this website so much. Lots of very knowledgeable people on here, and it's a very active board. I tip my hat to the people that run and maintain it! ...Joe

Re: 67-72 GM Trucks now at ICON status?
I think all this new discovery is funny.I`ve been hearing it for years,"These trucks are catching on".These guys are telling me like I don`t know.To me,it says something about one`s ego and how it affects their perspective.BTW,ego is an essential, not just a bad word for women to throw at us.But,what I`m saying is it`s more like,"No...you`re catching on."
I was just at an AACA car show (tend to be snooty) and one guy involved in putting the show on must have told me two or three times,"Those trucks are really catching on".Little did he know,I`m thinking,"I heard you twice the first time",because it`s like a tape I`ve been hearing for 20 years. These truck, like the Tri-5s and Late Greats, have never been off.Why do we have super low mile big block CheyenneSupers out there that have been in pampered garages next to Vettes since new?

Well said Tim. I gave 3k for mine 21 years ago, so with inflation it should be around 10k or more now LOL!!!

My family has owned several of them over the years. They are still a modern looking truck to this day in my opinion, and will never go out of style. I'm sure that in a few more years the aftermarket will start producing cabs for these trucks. When they do, anyone will be able to build one from scratch, but they will never match up to the originals! ...Joe
