Re: sb 350
Look for the right books in the Overhaul Tools thread in my signature...that's the right place to start.
A factory service manual is always a good buy, as are the aftermarket (Hayes, etc.) |

Re: sb 350
the head? you gotta do both, and you dont have to take the whole engine apart...just the top half.

Re: sb 350
cause tis easier to just lift the crank out then push pistons out - of course that crank got junked, wouldn't do it with a crank that I plan on reusing

If the timing is off, set the timing If it's got a bad miss and ticking, it may be that the cam has wiped a lobe or two - again, that's not a problem with the heads. You need to do a bit more diagnosis before making a decision on the repair. |

Re: sb 350
No problems with the wrist pins, there was very little oil pressure at start up and it when hot it was all done by 2k. Also had bad leaks at the intake, and was mixing coolant with oil (which probably wiped the bearings to begin with). A new crank, cam, and new bearings fixed it nicely, also threw in a high-volume oil pump and re-ringed it. While it was apart I also ported the heads, granted they're 882 heads so nothing to write home about, but it was a good learning experience.
