I let my friend borrow my cherry picker a year ago and he has not return it yet. I need to get new friends.

The key to just about any of this kind of work is to work smarter, not harder. Any tool is dangerous if used without thought. Just about any disaster is brought about by making mistakes. Think first.

[QUOTE=tclaremont;2402652]The key to just about any of this kind of work is to work smarter, not harder. Any tool is dangerous if used without thought. Just about any disaster is brought about by making mistakes. Think first.

"working smarter" is what my former employer would throw at us whenever we were going to be doing more work with less people...."working harder" was part of the deal.

But any given situation can become unsafe if the participants don't take time to think about what is going to be done. Even though I had to preach/teach safety at my former employer before I retired, I still find that my son (recently out of the USAF) can still teach the old man a few things about safety. I get complacent, just like a lot of other folks. Tools are here because early man figured out that a rock was harder than a fist, when it came time to hit something. (Ever try to drive a nail with your fist?? Come on, tell the truth.)
