what is the largest/widest tire mountable on a factory 72 k10 wheel?

It depends on what factory wheel you have. An 8 inch wheel will handle any 12.5" wide tire (33s or 35s) no problem. The more common narrower wheels are limited to smaller stuff.

I`d say a 10.50/31.BFG makes 9.50/33s.

i am not sure how wide mine are but could i run a 12.5 x33 on a smaller one ?

I wouldn`t recommend it.There would be a crown in the tread.Are you looking to go narrower or just mount wide tires on stock rims?I`d get away from stock rims if you want to stay wide.I`d say 10.50 is as far as I`d stretch it.They`re beefier than stock.If you want 12.50s you should look for some 8-10" rims.

BFG 10.50/33s would work nice.
