20X10's

Is anyone running 20X10's on the rear? What offset do you need and what size tire works best? Do they fit better under a fleetside or stepper?

im running 20x10's with a 4.5" backspace on my '68. i think on your '72 you'll need at least 6" of b.s.
they fit well also with a 295/40 tire

I am also running 20x10's with a 4.5" backspacing and i just BARELY fit. I think i have a 1/4-3/8" of clearance on each side. I am not sure what year of rear end i have but my truck is a 70. It was restored about 10+ years ago so my grandfather might have swapped rear ends. Anyways good luck.

Ask this question enough & you'll have enough answers to confuse the heck out of you. Every truck is set-up slightly different so measure the BS for yourself & be sure.

If you have a wheel on it now that's the starting point you need. Just add a tape measure & some scrap wood & you can firgure it out pretty easily.

don't have the wheels yet, and don't have the bed on to check, was wanting to know before I bought some wheels, found a good deal ona set....my truck is 1970, with the original rear in it. I have two 70 chevy's, 72 GMC, and a 69 c30 flatbed.

You don't need 'the' wheels..... just any wheel that fits so you can have a base-line of how much room you have toward the frame/suspension on the inside or the body on the outside. Anything else will just be a guess (albeit an educated one if someone has installed the same wheels on a similar truck).

I'm sure you'll get several other responses. For mine..... 10" wheel, 5" BS, 68 short fleet 6/8 drop.

I've got the 20x10s too. I think the bs would be the same (or close) even on a blazer.

1972Ryan,... Like SCOTI said,... you would be better off putting the bed on and measuring. I know this is alot of work,... but so is spending money on wheels that don't fit. If they're 1/2" too wide they might as well be 2" too wide. Also, your '70 model truck could have the early narrow rearend, (68-70),... or the later WIDER rearend. (71-72).Take any wheel, (idealy with no tire), and mount it on the rearend. Take a tape and measure out to the wheel well, and in to the wheel tub. (Remember a 20x10 will actually measure 11" wide across the rim) Take the given BS of the mounted wheel and add whatever you can safely fit. Also,...I usually add 1" for tire bulge and 1/2" for clearence. Hope this helps!

what about with a 4 inch backspace any way at all that might fit...what about adding spacers? What I mean to ask is anyone running a ten inch wheel with a 4 inch backspace and does it work on the early 70 rearend?

I know they wouldn't fit on my 68 short-fleet & it also has the 'shorter' rearend housing. I should clarify.... they might fit, but I wouldn't be able to get lower than a typical 4/6" drop because the tire would rub against the outer lip of the bedside.

One of the other members has 20x10's w/4" BS. His rearend was out of an early f-body so it was approx a couple of inches narrower but it did look good w/the deeper wheel lip.
