Re: 18k mile c10
I don't think it's missing anything on the glovebox door. Neither one of my 72s have an emblem on them. Most of the 72 emblems I have seen on gloveboxes are for Cheyennes and Supers.

Re: 18k mile c10
Seat looks correct, at least, it looks like the original vinyl seat my '70 has, but mine was plane jane, I thought the vinyl seat on the customs was fancier, or did they drop the base c/10 in 1971 and make the custom the base trim? I think Andy (longhornman) would know. Seems the engine bay would be cleaner though if it had only 18k.

Re: 18k mile c10
The firewall behind the engine is very clean and the intake manifold is very dirty , lots of paint missing from the valve covers also. I might be looking too hard though.

Awesome site- the one thing I hate about ebay is the feedback system. I have only left one "neutral" feedback in my history on ebay. The guy actually deserved a negative... At any rate, he was completely wrong, and in response to me being generous and leaving a neutral, he left me a neutral saying I was a hard customer to deal with, etc... Even though I paid instantly, and gave him more than ample time to resolve the situation. Still kinda pisses me off if you can't tell |

Re: 18k mile c10
That would be a great truck for a driver in a part of the country where rust leaves them alone. The black is not a "standaed" accent color, but I`ve seen non-standard colors before.JoesJunk`s truck has a black vinyl top(I know, not paint, and dealer item).I saw an original GMC painted like that with a black interior. So,the glovebox was black. It looked like a Baltimore Orioles fan had ordered it.
I think it`s a great find and if I was interested I`d fly and look at it.It`s value is based on originality and condition.I`d have to see that in person to know what I was buying.I can tell in person what`s original.I can guess from pictures and this appears to be original.Chaulk marks aren`t always there and they are...well,chaulk.I`ve seen guys clean them off before.Especially the finicky kind that would garage a truck for 30+ years and barely drive it.

Re: 18k mile c10
My .02 worth for what it's worth. The box I agree is a bit banged up for the low milage but then again if it was used as a work truck for the first few 'k' miles the box could show signs of wear and tear and still have low milage. What has got me questioning the mileage is the engine bay!!! I've owned new vehicles from work trucks to cars and I don't remember my engine showing this kind of wear at 18000 miles. The intake, valve covers, air cleaner etc appear like they have a 100,000 k on them. I have the original carb, intake and air cleaner off my truck and they have way more paint on them and they are not low mileage items to say the least.
I posted this 55 Chevy for $30.000 about 2 months ago. This is what I would expect the engine to look like. Some cast parts showing a bit of rust but the paint in quite good shape. Over all still very presentable. This vehicle is 52 years old! esll.

Re: 18k mile c10
The lighter must have been added. There`s no trim ring. The mat was torn by lifting for some reason.
Just a few observations.

Re: 18k mile c10
I see no mention of this truck having the original #s factory engine. This is as important as the low mileage is. One would think if your paying for the condition and originality of a vehicle this is something that the seller would want to bring to the buyers attention IMHO.
esll.

Re: 18k mile c10
That`s the chrome threshold trim.I think it`s the real McCoy fromwhere I stand. If I was selling any vehicle claiming such low mileage I`d be prepared for serious scrouteny(sp?).If I was interested in buying,I`d have my tail on an airplane to go look it over and would have had cash in my pocket. No words can convince me of the originality. You can`t talk it into havoing 18,000 miles. It either has or hasn`t.
