The only ones that I know of are the early 48-53 cabs. They aren't making cabs for the 67-72 or any other generation of GM truck yet that I'm aware of. It would be nice if they did, and they didn't cost like 10 grand! ...Joe

According to my sources the R&D is pretty far along but they have not started producing them yet.

Back in 1990 I went to the local Chevy dealer parts department. My buddy who work there looked up a part number for a complete cab. It did not have doors but did have glass. The price at that time was around $1,600.00. I told him to order one for me. The next day he called me and said that that part had been discontinued. Big Disappointment. He also tried to search the computer system of all dealers to see if any dealer had one in stock. No luck. I wish I had tried to order on a few years earlier.

I tryed ordering a cab from the dealer several years earlier and they were deleted.The cab would have been as bare bones as it gets...just the metal that is welded together.Anything that bolts or fastens wouldn`t have been included.I know a guy ordered a complete post`72 body back in the early`80s and it cost about $3,000 back then.
They`ll be available one day soon.I think they`re giving us time to save our money

I hope they are prepared cause they will sell a boat load of em, no matter the price. These trucks are extremely popular. I mean, what red blooded American wouldn't want one?

I'd buy it. Seriously. As long as it was on-par with the original. When I think about all of the bodywork it would save me, it would be worth the dough as long as it wasn't coming with a $5,000+ pricetag

I talked to a guy at a swap meet a few years ago that claimed to have a "friend" that bought all of the left over cabs from the plant after the body switch in 73. He claimed that the cabs were in various stages of assembly and had been sitting in a warehouse in Detroit for 30 years. He said that they might be for sale. I gave him my phone number but I still have not gotten a call. I at least enjoyed making plans for the cabs (a.k.a dreaming) so the story was worth something. Maybe I should try searching snopes for 72 Chevy truck cabs in Detroit to get the real story. If I ever get the call I will let you know.

55-59 cab prototype was on display at SEMA. It won't be too much longer. It will be more than $5000. 48-54 cabs are $8000

48-54 cabs are in higher demand, though. IMO, the 48-54 year range is probably the best know, most sought after body style for any GM truck out there. i'm biased because it is my absolute favorite year model, but ...
