what a joke on ebay

I saw this on ebay today. I hope it doesnt belong to anyone here on the forum. This guy has got to be kidding. If this truck is worth 14k then mine is worth 20k or more. looks like a $1000 beater with dumb wheels and a nice engine to me.

Re: what a joke on ebay

being that i am a jerk, i emailed the seller and asked if he was kidding. this could be an ebay version of "punked", you always need to be on guard. he told me that it will beat corvettes and mustangs and will do 140mph at 4800 rpm, that must be in 8th gear, or he has 1.88 gears in the rearend. he also said he has well over 28k in reciepts. i dare anyone to do 140 mph in that thing, i would rather eat glass. my truck is shakey at 85 or 90. I think the $20 bid is more than fair

If he really has had all the work done that he says he has, and it comes with all those extra parts I can see where he can have the buy it now price invested in it easily. You guys know how quickly this stuff adds up.

Re: what a joke on ebay

Not mine(& I dont want it to be)but there is some good money invested. A lot of the expensive stuff is done & a bunch more goes with it. I wont comment on what he says is invested or how much he is asking(dont care), Im just saying its far from a $100 truck & you should go back & look at the pics before you go bashing someones hard work...

Actually if has stock 3.07 gearing it would be turning around 4800 (4825 to be exact) @ 140 Mph even with a TH350 or TH400 assuming the tires were around 29.5" tall which they look to be since the wheels are as big as they are. Now his truck has a 700R4, so that makes it very realistic. In reality he probably has 3.73 gears. I agree that its over priced, but the RPM and MPH are mathematically realistic. My truck is stable at speeds of a little over a 100, and its not even lowered with bigger diameter wheels. Sorry to say, but this is obviously a lot more truck than yours...

Re: what a joke on ebay

I'm sure he has a ton of money invested in that truck. I think it would be in his best intrest to do a little more work to it and then sell it. I just don't think the truck will bring nearly that....but I wish it was mine.

Re: what a joke on ebay

some of you must have never built a truck like this look at my aviator thats 8000 dollars worth of parts there and it also looks shabby at first glance, i got 2500.00 just in my crank rods and pistons, my rear end has 1100 in it that tranny he has easy 1500 + the moter between 6000 and 12000 his suspension is like mine easy 1000+ that carb he has was probably 600 come on guys like he said you can't always judge at face value thats what a rat rod is about, some people don't like to flant all there goodies in the open with that shine...

Re: what a joke on ebay

I dont think its terrible.. I mean primer it and throw some rally mags on it, and you have a rat rod. The 140mph comment irritated me as well though... and I personally wont buy a vehicle if the PO lies- even once.

Re: what a joke on ebay

I'm thinking it's worth more than the current bid (about $100.00) but not the $14,000.00 buy it now.It does seem to have had a lot of stuff already done but i would want to see it personally before bidding anything over about 4,000.00.If the suspension was done right and the motor is the one he has receipts for(not saying it isn't but it wouldn't be the first time someone cheated that way) the truck might be worth more.I've also seen shoddy work done that would cost more to fix than if it hadn't been done to start with. Good luck to him with the sale and to whoever buys it.I hope you both come out happy.

Re: what a joke on ebay

I don't get it, why would a 4000LB truck with a built 454 and 2.73 gears(as stated in the description) not do 140? And with all new suspension why would it not operate at that speed?
Summit Racing sells an assembled 540HP 454 for $8900, a tranny to back it is over $1700.
Front and rear rebuild will cost over 1000, which leaves you paying 2600 more for a decent body with vintage air, and a full set of replacement panels. it might not be cheap, but I woldn't say rip off without seeing the truck first.

a 4500 Lb Cayenne does 141 on only 290 HP if that gives you some perspective.

Edit: My 170HP 6.2 diesel in the Sub tops out the governor at 100, and its plenty stable with stock 4x4 suspension. The power to go faster is there, but no more RPM is available.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

All you guys are proclaiming without a doubt it can't do 140, but I'd also like for you to explain why it wouldn't. A Big block with OD should do 140 with ease. My '69 C-10 with the 255HP 350 4 bbl, 3.08's, TH350 will bury the 100 mph speedo and then some. Why are you guys saying there's no way it can do it?

Re: what a joke on ebay

this thread seems like a great example of why it's not a good idea to bash someone on the inturdnet. people everywhere have varying opinions on a lot of things, and this guy thinks his truck's worth $14k. is he gonna get it on eBay, doubtful. But is it worth it? He thinks so.

Re: what a joke on ebay

The truck has alot of money into it.A mis-matched door dosn`t slow it down or make it a p.o.s.It`s just paint. We all know what a $14,000 truck is and we know a truck is worth more to us than anyone else.

Re: what a joke on ebay

I see alot of good a$$ parts with this truck and I am sure it probably runs its a$$ off too.. No doubt he probably has more than $14000.00 in it... THe biggest problem is it sounds like a :fast68::fast68: wrote the auction! Dont start bragging about what it will beat... anyone with the money to buy a project like this most likely knows how a 30 over BBC runs... Faster than a speeding bullet i and all that other sh*t is not necessary!
