Shifter Arm Install Help???
So I am reinstalling the shifter arm on the column and can't seem to get it right.
I can't find the spring thing and it seems to stop going all the way into the socket. Any ideas as to how to do this? I've attached so pics. I think I am just missing a step or 2. |

Re: Shifter Arm Install Help???
yes the original everything. I only have 3 shifts on the shifter at this time? I was told there is a safety thing that prevents the other 2 positions on the shifter when the arm is out.

Re: Shifter Arm Install Help???
Check the small hole that the ball end of the shifter fits into there may be a small anti-rattle bushing in the hole, if it is not lined up correctly lever will not go all the way in.

Re: Shifter Arm Install Help???
So I got some bad advice thinking there was a spring in the column that made you move the shifter forward to shift, like in the more modern trucks.
So there isn't one. I have the linkage jammed in just above the lower bearing. Once I pried it into the right position it works again. |
