Where can I find these?
The snap ring that goes at the axle stub ends to hold the inner part of the lock-outs on.Where can tou find these? It`s been a while and I know my parts store doesn`t list them(Napa).I brought home a 1 1/2" snap ring and it was too big.Are they 1 1/4"?They were out of those, but it could be right.
Any help?

Re: Where can I find these?
I think they are 1.375 (1-5/16?). If you want to unload my pickup box trailer/ storage unit to find them, I''ll let you take as many as you want
Maybe a farm equipment shop would be the place to find them- that's where I find the odd stuff.

Re: Where can I find these?
My parts guy gave me the couple 1 1/2s he had.I`ll run in to TSC and see how lame their selection is.

Re: Where can I find these?
"Technically"....they don't hold the locking hubs in, the large outer ring holds the inner part in. The small snap-ring keeps the outer axle stub from floating around freely. This keeps the seal tight against the back of the spindle...and more importantly it keeps the u-joint aligned with the ball-joint centerline. The axle has to bend where the ball-joints bend.
That is why the large single gear from the "full-time" four wheel drive trucks has the spring behind it. The spring pushes out on the gear that is held in by the snap-ring around the axle. This achieves the same thing. The axle is centered and the seal against the spindle. Size, I coundn't tell ya though. sorry Last edited by LONGHAIR; 11-05-2007 at 02:26 PM. |

Re: Where can I find these?
I know it doesn`t hold the inner hub on,it`s sandwiched in place.I guess it "locates" the two parts. But,the shaft can barely move in and out at all anyway.I think without it,the inner cogs could float out and contact the outer cogs when in "free".

Re: Where can I find these?
1 1/8",found at Ace Hardware. My TSC sucks!!They have a lousy hardware area. They have the good old nuts`n`bolts by the pound. But,the other stuff is never stocked up.What ever happened to Central Tractor? We don`t have ours anymore and I thought they were so much better.TSC just markets heavier, doesn`t make them better. They`re just a Chinese cheap alternative dealer these days.Kinda like these flea market vendors we have these days.
