Frenched Tag
Well I got some pictures of my front bumper with the frenched in area done. I still have to get the body work done on it and repaint it. I think it will look good when done though.
I'm thinking about getting it chromed later. I may just have him prime it and leave it like that for awhile until I can have it chromed.

Re: Frenched Tag
Not worried about chroming it. I have ran it now for 15 years painted. Just been thinking about it.
I had the DMV send me a new tag for the back so I repainted this one in the picture to run on the front to match.

Re: Frenched Tag
Are you aware that you will have to have it smooth as glass to have it chromed? It will show every grind mark and imperfection if you don't. You will probably need to paint the license plate pocket anyway as the chrome will come out yellow in the corners.

Re: Frenched Tag
Looks good.I just realized you don`t even need a front tag, huh?Too bad the bumpers aren`t smooth there so you could just do nothing.I had a`63 Riviera from a 1 tag state.I never ran the front tag(MD has both),it never had a place for one and I wasn`t going to change that.

Re: Frenched Tag
If I have it chromed it will be handled by them to make sure it's right. I haven't found anybody local to do it so I doubt I even have it done.

Re: Frenched Tag
Don't have to have the front tag at all. I just hadn't seen a 71 truck with the tag frenched in before and thought since I had mine off I would do it a little defferant than most.

Re: Frenched Tag
Anybody recommend a chrome shop that is within driving distance of Liberty SC. I haven't found one local except for ones that do little parts nothing big.

Re: Frenched Tag
A little computer magic for ya". I put the tag in the bumper. I think it should look good once the bumper is finished. Oh by the way he has started back on it this week finally after 4 weeks of nothing being done. He had the front windsheild and side glass out and was working the area's for prepping them.

Re: Frenched Tag
Another thing about plating is that if you didn't use cold rolled steel, it's probably going to look like it has a bad case of acne. The pits in hot rolled can be filled though.

Re: Frenched Tag
That looks GREAT! Great idea, too. Chrome it, paint it, sand-blast it- whatever YOU want to do. I really like it whichever direction you go.
Good job!

Re: Frenched Tag
I'm already working on something for the rear but it maybe awhile before I can tell if it's going to workout.
I sold my set of S-10 wheels today so I have $500.00 more to spend on it. special-K
