I care a lot, mine's a DD

I have a 700R4 w/3.73 and love em, but for a hair more in mileage I'd like a set of 3.42's. My truck ain't fast anyways.

Re: what gear ratio do you run or would like to have

I run 3.42's with a th350 and the 31" tall rear tires. I don't have a tach, but it will cruise all day at 65-70.

I am planning on the 200 from the Chevelle going in the truck very soon for freeway usage and calm things down noise and fuel mileage wise. The Chevelle will get the 400 back, I hardly ever drive it anymore.

3.08 (might be 3.20) with a th400 and 476BBC cruises pretty nicely. Plenty of torque to roast the tires on demand and decent Hwy RPM.

I'd like a built 700r4 and 3.73s eventually.

Re: what gear ratio do you run or would like to have

I'm running 3.73 with a 700r4 in my GMC. Cruises down the highway comfortably and is a good gear with the tranny.

In my 68 I'll be running 4.11s with a 4L60E. Not quite as concerned with mileage. Plus I'll be running taller tires

The Blazer has 3.73's and 31" tires, and it was just about right. The truck has 4.10's and 30" tires and it spins a bit much.

Re: what gear ratio do you run or would like to have

The "3.08" rear end is actually 3.07xxx, so it rounds up to 3.08. Some people say 3.08, some say 3.07. My GM restoration package says that '71 Burbs with 350's came with a 3.08 rear but the 3.73 rear was an option. Not sure which one I have...

There was also a 307 cu.in. SBC available.
No 308 motors and no 3.07 gear in trucks.

Re: what gear ratio do you run or would like to have

456 gears.. wanting to go with a 373 .. i have to fish through the 5 or 6 rear end I have to find out what they are to see if I can swap them.. Anyone know how to tell what they are from just looking at them? or do I have to pull the covers and count the teeth? and if so how many teeth do 373's have?
