Engine cross member question

Can anyone tell me if the engine cross member is different depending upon the engine used in a 4x4? I'd like to install a 292 and was wondering how to ID the one that is on the chassis already (no engine).

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Engine cross member question

IIRC, it's not the 4X4 that'll cause you problems, it's the 292 has a custom engine cross member.

Re: Engine cross member question

The 292 crossmember was not mounted in the chassis like a traditional V8 or 250 crossmember.Since the 292 has different mounting spots than a 250 6-Cylinder the crossmember is sort of sideways if that makes since, not mounted sideways but it has an angle to it.I don't have pics of a 292 crossmember but do have some of V8 crossmebers and 250 crossmembers.I think those 2 have the same one,but mounted in different spots but I'm not for sure.Post a pic of yours and we can tell.
