Heater Delete Option???

Ok guys help me out here... was talking with a guy at work today and he said he had seen a 67-72 truck with heater delete on it in a junkyard a few yrs back...? Anyone seen such a thing? Ive searched the web and cant find mention of heater delete...maybe if it was a suburban or delivery or ??? Just curious as to what you guys think. You know how rednecks are when they get together. Had a guy at my previous job swear up and down his dad had a '65 Camaro SS when it was new. I mentioned that the car would have been worth a fortune and the sad thing...no one else there seemed to know any different??! Sad sad times we live in Thanks!

Re: Heater Delete Option???

Seems I saw a pic of a heater delete truck that was in lower, i.e., Sunny California. I could understand it being there, but not in Tennessee. Still, at the time, it was possible....heaters were an option, like radios. Nowadays, with the defrosters being linked to the A/C, not the norm.

As to the '65 Camaro SS, you and I both know that they don't exist. Knew an old man, now deceased, who swore he saw a 4-door 65 Mustang. He was a nice old man, and I didn't want to bust his bubble, so I just nodded and smiled.

I was corrected, once (at least) when I wrote to Mustang Monthly about a pair of '66's that I saw. One was gold with a black Pony interior. The other was white, and a Sprint option. I thought I remembered it having a red/white/blue interior, but I was told "no". Funny how the time passing affects our perceived memories. I was wrong. It did have a blue/white Pony interior, but no red anywhere.

But, NO Camaro's were built in '65, unless they were styling mules....and the early versions that were just rumors at the time, were called Panthers, not Camaros.

Re: Heater Delete Option???

67 was hte first year for the heat and defronster to be standard, however, if it was not specificly asked for, it was not installed and a credit was given, that is why you'll see most 67's list the heater as an option.
66 and older, it was a straight up optio at added cost.

Re: Heater Delete Option???

On the inside there is a delete plate that looks like so over the heater controls area..and outside theres one that covers the heater hole also. May be I can find a pic of that also.

Re: Heater Delete Option???

I was playing with my radio delete plate earlier todak. It looks like it just fits over the heater control, and on my '68 it is right up against the ignition bezel. I might get my hands on another one of these and have hidden heater switches... maybe.
