Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
I'm looking at buying these billet door handles and window cranks either off E-Bay or from Billet Specialties. They look a bit better than the stock ones in my opinion and add a custom touch to the interior. Anyone have any experience with these? Any one have them, if you do, do you like them?

Re: Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
those suck. i cant describe them any better than that. i have them on my truck now. well atleast just one window crank because the other three fell off. the way they mount on with the bolts is a bad design cause they wear out everytime you turn them. they wore themselves out on mine. so after like a few weeks on yours, youll go to open your door and the handle will go all the way around and youll be stuck inside. a few others i know have had the same problem. im trying to find a better set or im gonna machine my own. do yourself a favor and dont buy them. wow that was the most ive typed in a while...

Re: Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
Thanks cflvulcan!!! That was exactly what I needed to know. I wasn't too sure if the set screw design on these things were good or not. Now I know I can save my $ and spend it elsewhere on my truck. Just thought I'd ask here first, good thing I did.

Re: Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
The stock door handles/window cranks have the spline gears built right into them instead of being a separate piece that is held in by 2 or 3 set screws. The stock handle/crank has grooves on either side (on the back side) and are held on by a press-fit clip. Its been 4 years since I bought new ones and I've never had one fall off or break yet.

Re: Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
Those are super flimsy. More like stamped aluminum. If you can find the ones that are solid. I was going that direction and found another set that had the spline cut into the aluminum and was a solid piece.

Re: Billet Door Handles & Window Cranks
I have them and they work great. I did have to make them work great though. If you install them right out of the box, then you will be cursing them shortly. What you have to do, is to take a 1/16" drill bit, and slightly drill into the adapter where the billet arm set screw tightens to. If you don't, the set screw from the billet arm will not lock onto the adapter, and will just spin. Then you will say, "These are junk"
I've have them in now since the beginning of last Summer, and never any problems. They only thing I'm not crazy about, is that I wish they were a little larger.
