Aftermarket power steering help ques.?

I bought a Brothers power steering kit. It says altenator has to be on the left side. Is that Drivers or pass? My altenator is on the pass side. Will it work?
No A/C, long water pump, 350 sb. I dont want to switch my altenator to the other side because I dont have different brackets. Thanks for any help.

Re: Aftermarket power steering help ques.?

Alternator on the left side means driver's side. Your long water pump and passenger (right) side mounted alternator are not original.

You'd need more than brackets to do the swap to original left side alternator. You'd need three pulleys, belt, fan spacer, and a water pump and bolts.

It it were me, I'd return the stuff to Brothers and go to a junkyard and get a pump and brackets off any 73-87 model truck. They came with long water pumps and right side mounted alternators stock, so it will be cheaper and easier to go that route.

Just get the pump with brackets, hoses, steering box, and pitman arm. Once you have those items, it's a 2 hour job no sweat.
