Late model suspension swap
You guys have probably been ask this one before. Is there any advantage to swapping the front crossmember on my '67 with a later Chevy front crossmember? I have a complete setup out of a '90 Suburban. I'm doing a frame off, but like a lot of people, watching pennies.

Re: Late model suspension swap
There are a lot of pluses for doing the swap. Obviously you'll have the disk brakes, plus the front end parts for the later trucks are a lot cheaper. I did my swap from an '89 Suburban and I love it. I've also heard guys say that they prefer the new control arm bushings that are all rubber as opposed to the old type that have the metal in them. The only real downside I've found is that I couldn't use my 6 lug rallys. BTW, to the board!

Re: Late model suspension swap
Is there anything special about the sway that I need to know, or is it just a simple swap?

Re: Late model suspension swap
The sway bar will bolt up. However, if your truck didn't have one factory I think there are a couple of rivets that need to be removed in order to install the sway bar brackets. Also, if your truck is lowered or if you plan on lowering I would recommend getting a set of lowered sway bar brackets. I got mine from Early Classic. They were inexpensive and fit beautifully. Here is a link to the FAQ thread that TxFirefighter wrote about the install. It's what I used when I installed mine. Hope this helps.
