Pull Trucks ?

Dose anyone on the board have pull trucks? I know that it is a kind of big back east. I am going to turn the '67 4X4 that I just got in to a super stock class pull truck. Not any time soon or nothing but as soon as I can. I need to get a cab and front clip first, and rebuild the front and rear ends, and someother work to get done first.

I was just wondering if there were any board members that have ever pulled before. Thanks Landon

OH YA!! heres a before pic, of the truck

It use to be really big here in Missouri, but has kinda died out in favor of dirt track cars. I love truck pulls and believe there are still several events around. The stock class was the best one, beside the full modified. Go For It!

Yea we still have it at every fair in Kentucky. I love it. I went to the fair every day just to watch the trucks and tractors. But out here,(you may have it too) we hook the trucks to each other, Hehehehehehehe. It's fun. They are 2wd. They lift the front ends in the air about 5 feet. It's a beautiful thing!!!!!

Oh yea. I want to build a tug of war truck like I just described. Dana 70, all granny gears, and prolly a 383(rev high with high torque) take out all the windows and strip everything that doesn't need to be, and in one of these trucks it'll be bound to win, but in all reality, there are about 9 of these "tug-o-war" trucks.

This 'burban here, this guy owns about 3 of them(tug o war trucks) I think this guy has a thing for our trucks, I'ma try to talk to him and get him to join. His name is Lillie, he even lives beside the engine shop.

Here is my buddies pulling truck that myself and two buddies did a complete frame off on. It is not a 67-72 but still a bad @ss truck.

1985 Chevy 3/4 Ton Reinforced and beefed up EVERYWHERE.

Sorry for all the pics but I am pretty proud of this thing.

There are a good amount of pulls in western PA, WV, eastern OH try this site www.truckpulls.com I have pulled in the past, 72 4x4 427/350 auto, did ok, lot of fun! Decided my 72 needed a floor and the rest is history, frame off resto. Hope to use my 78 4 door this year if I can get it into the budget. Nothing like a Big Block turning 6500 rpm for about 15-20 seconds to get the blood flowing, except maby the smell of cam 2.

Keenee,

Just a heads up on using your four door. Some pulls in our area, Eastern Ohio, Penn. , have restrictions on length. It is a huge advantage to have a longer wheel base. You may have already known this but I thought I would say it anyhow.

My buddies truck is on that www.truckpulls.com. Great site. We pull at west Salem and Geagua as well as most of the county fairs within a couple hundred miles. Last summer was our second year doing this seriously and we hit almost 30 pulls last year. Came in third in our class in the WSTPA and in the process of changes for next year.

Wally4232, hey from PA! Yea I know about the wheel base restrictions. But, as you well know, those guys who pull long trucks say "It dosen't make any difference" so I want to show them how big a difference that long truck makes! I dont like the long trucks, but need to make this one work!

Reminds me of back in hi school down south when guys would chain up a couple of trucks frame to frame out in the parking lot after school and the winner would literally do a tug of war on the loser across the line. Thats what I think of when I think of truck pulls. I remember the first time I went to an organized tractor pull. I thought " What the hell are they doing? " I kept waiting for them to hook up to each other. never happened!
